FEATURING JOEL SAMMELS

FRINGEWORLD 2019

See-Saw Magazine

'Hyper-aware of his physical appearance, fixated on his minor achievements, and desperately waiting for his celebrity lookalike to arrive on set, the Double’s undoing is disquieting and inevitable as his grip on reality starts to slip.......Sammels gives an impassioned performance'....

From The Turnstiles – David Zampatti

The script, by Lachlan Philpott and Luke Mullins, about the vanity and abandonment of a film star’s body double (Joel Sammels) is smart and well-constructed.......Sammels has all the right moves.

SEVENTEEN

Jess's Mum is a boozer.  Emilia is her best friend. But who betrays who on their last night as high school kids? Mike is the leader and Tom wants more muscles.  Lizzy's a pain and Ronny's a loser. Everyone knows that. Even Ronny.

A darkly funny tale that explores what kids do with big problems when they come and smack them in the face. A night high on beer, emotions, reminiscence and confessions.

Actors over 60 play teens; one unseen generation exploring what it means to be another.

Written by Matthew Whittet

Directed by Susannah Thompson

Sneaking to the park with your mates. Dragging on a ciggy, sucking on a can. Planning for the future. Or not.

High School is over. One last night of confessions, dares and tagging as a group of high school friends meet for what they fear is the last time.

'...A very crisp presentation.  Some wonderful performers having fun with a thoughtful and clever script.'

Alex Broun’s ferocious and darkly funny tale takes us on a blurry weekend in the company of extreme males… with extreme drinking and extreme consequences.

100 beers, per man, per day is the challenge set by team captain Doug on the annual end-of-season trip to Perth for their amateur footy team. But there’s more going on with the boys than meets the eye. Can Doug really keep them under control?

Not just for sports fans, this action-filled AWGIE-nominated dark comedy explores masculinity, mateship, loyalty – and betrayal. Presented by Turquoise Theatre, director and dramaturge Susannah Thompson marks her return to Perth asking the question: what happens when you don’t bloody win?
